How Gwei works
What it does, how to launch a coin, and how to get the most out of the rules.
What it is
Gwei is a launchpad on Ethereum for coins that come with rules. A rule is a check that runs inside every trade. If a trade breaks a rule, it does not go through.
The rules are public and live onchain, so anyone can read exactly how a coin behaves before buying it. Markets run on Uniswap, with ETH on the other side of every pool.
Launch a coin
Everything happens in the launch console. It takes a few minutes.
- 1Connect a walletConnect an Ethereum wallet. ETH pays network fees. Your chosen pairing asset pays for purchases.
- 2Pick a modeThe mode decides what the coin can do. Plain coin trades freely. The other modes add rules, games or positions.
- 3Choose the pairing assetChoose ETH, a reviewed Ondo stock, ETF or private-market note, or an enabled stock-exposure vault. Pairing assets work across modes once their markets are deployed.
- 4Name itGive it a name and a ticker. Add a picture, a short description and links if you like. They are stored on IPFS and the coin points to them.
- 5Arm the rulesPress the keys for the rules you want, up to eight. Each armed rule opens its own settings in plain units, like percent and minutes.
- 6Make the first buyChoose an optional opening purchase in the pairing asset. An Ondo pairing requires that token in your wallet and an approval before launch.
- 7Press launchOne transaction creates the coin, opens its market and registers the rules. Your wallet shows it before you sign.
Pool coins have a fixed supply of one billion. All of it goes into the pool at launch as liquidity that cannot be withdrawn, so there is nothing for a creator to pull.
Modes
A mode is a kind of coin. Pick one in the first step of the launch console.
- Plain coinUniswap v3A freely trading coin paired with ETH or a reviewed Ondo asset, with permanently locked liquidity.
- Pool rulesUniswap v4The rules sit in the coin's pool and run on every swap there. Elsewhere the coin is a plain token.
- Coin + gameUniswap v4A plain coin whose trading fees pay for a game its holders can play.
- Token rulesUniswap V3 / V2The rules sit in the token itself, so they also apply when coins move between wallets. Forty rules to choose from.
- Sticky lotsUniswap V3 / V2Every batch of coins remembers when it was bought. You write a short script for what each batch may do.
- Leveraged longsUniswap v4The pool itself offers leveraged long positions on the coin.
- Longs and shortsUniswap v4Long and short positions on a real ranged curve, with funding and liquidations.
- Covered callsUniswap v4Pool rules, plus call options that are fully backed by liquidity held in reserve.
- Hidden creatorUniswap V3 / V2The creator's wallet is sealed at launch and revealed at a set time.
Rules
A coin can carry up to eight rules. You choose them at launch and set each one in plain units. These are the twenty rules a pool can enforce. Token rules adds twenty more.
EntryWho can buy, and how much.
- Maximum trade
- No single buy above a set share of supply.
- Minimum buy
- Buys below a set size are refused.
- Buy limit
- Each wallet gets a fixed number of buys.
- Holder gated
- Only wallets holding another token can buy.
- Gas cap
- Buys paying more than a set gas price are refused.
- Dip only
- Buys open only when the price has dipped from its peak.
PaceHow fast buys can come.
- Slow mode
- One buy, then a wait before the next.
- Buys per block
- Only so many buys fit in one block.
- No repeat buyers
- The last buyer cannot buy twice in a row.
- Raising buys
- Each buy must be bigger than the one before it.
ExitHow coins can be sold.
- Anti dump
- Caps the size of any single buy or sell.
- Taper
- The sell cap tightens as more of the supply sells.
- Cooldown
- Wait a set time after a trade before selling.
- Buys unlock sells
- A sell opens only after enough buys.
ClockWhen the coin trades.
- Market hours
- Trades only in set hours and on set days, in UTC.
- Tick tock
- Buys and sells take turns, window by window.
- Sell window
- Sells open for a short window each period.
- Opening bell
- No selling until a set time has passed or enough has sold.
PotsPrizes paid from the coin's own fees.
- Buyer rewards
- Qualifying buys earn ETH from a pot.
- Jackpot
- After a quiet spell, the last buyer takes a share of the pot.
Two pairings are refused because together they could close selling for good. Tick tock cannot run with Sell window. Market hours can only join either of them if sells stay open after hours.
Recipes
Rules work best in small sets. Here are four to start from. Each one opens the launch console with its keys already armed.

Trade a coin
Find a coin on the board or open one by its address. Its page shows the picture, the numbers, and every rule it enforces in plain words.
To trade, choose Buy or Sell, enter an amount and get a quote. The quote shows what you receive and the least you will accept. It lasts five minutes. Slippage can be set from 0.1% to 5%. Selling may ask you to approve the amount first.
Coins with leverage, call options, floors or a game have their own sections further down the coin page.
Fees
Pool coins take a 1% fee on the pairing-asset side of every trade. The pool itself charges no separate fee.
That fee is split three ways. The coin's creator gets a share that is fixed at launch. If the coin has a Jackpot or Buyer rewards, part goes into its pot. The rest goes to the platform, which spends 95% of it on buybacks and keeps 5% for the team.
Games
A Coin + game launch attaches one game to the coin. Trading fees from its pool pay for it.
- Bell
- A bell can be rung once per timer. The first holder to ring it wins the prize.
- Seat
- One person at a time holds the seat and gets paid from the prize pot. You get the seat by buying it.
- Persuade
- Each round, holders write why they deserve the prize. An AI picks the winner.
- Ransom
- The prize pot is held back. It only pays out when holders lock enough coins together.
- War
- Your coin battles other War coins. The community that keeps its coins locked wins the other side's money.
Hook an existing coin
A coin that already trades elsewhere can get a Uniswap v4 pool of its own beside its current market. You bring the coin and the ETH, and the liquidity is locked for 30 days.
Hook a coinGood to know
- Are stocks and private markets modes?
- They are pairing assets: the tokens used to buy and sell your coin. All nine mode families support reviewed 18-decimal pairing assets. The selected asset pays for purchases, collateral, fees and prizes. The app enables each combination after its contracts are deployed.
- Is Ondo Perps available?
- Our stock-exposure vaults provide transferable shares targeting 2× or 3× long or short exposure through a dedicated Ondo Perps account. Deposit and redeem USDC here, and use shares as a pairing asset. Deposits and withdrawals are asynchronous and depend on venue custody, a separate NAV reporter and available liquidity. Only configured, activated vaults appear. Funding costs and liquidation can reduce value.
- Does a refused trade cost me?
- The app tests every action before your wallet opens. If a rule would refuse it, you are told why and nothing is sent.
- Can rules change after launch?
- Pool rules are fixed when the coin launches. Nobody can edit them later, the creator included.
- Do rules apply to the creator?
- Sell rules apply to everyone. The creator's own buys skip the entry and pace rules.
- Can a rule take my coins?
- No. A pool rule can only refuse a trade. It cannot move coins or ETH out of anyone's wallet.
- Can the liquidity be pulled?
- For pool coins, no. The whole supply goes into the pool at launch and the contract has no way to take it back out.
- Can a bot trade around a limit?
- Rules look at the wallet that signed the transaction, so routing through another contract does not help.
- Where is my half-finished launch?
- The launch console saves your draft in this browser. A hidden creator wallet is never saved.
